Yesterday at the Rock we talked about getting ready to meet Jesus. There are things we have to prepare in order to be ready for Him. One of them is to be blameless before God. We cannot be blameless unless we are a repentant people. Satan even dabbles in this area by saying you cannot be blameless even though scripture says you can be through the power of the Holy Spirit. Another one is satan likes to make you think what you are doing in the world is really important. So many people are preoccupied with day to day living they forget about their daily walk with God. Most people are just really busy with temporary things that are not going to last. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:18 “we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Too many people have this backwards.
The song of Moses (Deuteronomy 28) is a very powerful chapter in the bible that not only talks about Israel; it refers to us North Americans. It says, “They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them. 29 If only they were wise and would understand this and discern what their end will be! By focusing on this world we live in and not on the word of God, we get preoccupied by the wrong thing. Even if you tell a non-Christian the end is near, they still do not listen. But if you really stop and think about it, are Christians really listening? We always say, if I was going to die in a month I would change… so why don’t we? Are we really ready to meet our maker or are we preoccupied with the world of church? We need to make sure we are not just playing church but being the church. There is a difference. Get ready He’s coming again! Let’s get preoccupied with His word instead of the world.
