Isn’t it amazing how easy it is to skip devotions? We hit the ground running but miss the most important meal of the day. They say breakfast is the key meal and definitely not the one to miss otherwise you run out of energy real quick. There is an orange juice commercial that has the days events sitting at the breakfast table. All the things that were going to go wrong were seated at the table. The answer to the day’s problems was a glass of orange juice. She knew she would get through because she had her orange juice. Wow, those are some powerful oranges. Our devotional time is much more effective than a glass of orange juice. We need to read and pray so that we can be in tune with God and His plans for us. We need to listen for direction and have responses to life’s situations, even the curve balls. Our day should be a day of constant communion with God. The scripture you read in the morning sticks with you through the day. So today ask the Holy Sprit to make you feel very uncomfortable when you miss out on your devotions. Today I am guilty of the very thing I am writing about, hence the late blog. There where different opportunities throughout the day that I did not take advantage of but the one I missed was first thing this morning, when I got up. I was tired. Good excuse; not really. I had time but chose to do something else instead. I am usually very consistent but I need that uncomfortable feeling that if I do not have my bread of life to start the day, I will not have the nourishment I need to face the day. John 6:35 “Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” That is some breakfast. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you hunger pangs when you do not daily devote yourself to God’s word.
