Luke 10:3 says, “Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.” In the modern church this is mostly forgotten. What is it that we really think we need to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ? Sadly many think we need to have our ducks in a row so to speak, we need our finances squared away, we decide where we want to go and then we go. If we return to this principle of being sent it means we go back to being spirit led, which also means we wait for His leading. This is such a foreign idea these days in the church probably because most have no idea what being spirit-led means. Following God’s word is the vision and the plan. Your job is this. Be so focused on God’s plan you do not greet anyone on the road. This sounds harsh but when you look at the prophet who was sent to King Jeroboam to give a word of the Lord, he was (1 Kings 13:9) commanded by the word of the Lord: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.” This was so serious that he died because he did not carry out the command given to Him. We need to be that serious about following the plan God has given us. He sends us in His power, to do His plan and accomplish His purposes. We must stay the course and not veer to the left or the right. Judges 6:14 “The Lord turned to him (Gideon) and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” Because God is sending us he will empower us just as He did Gideon. 12 When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” Like Samson the “Spirit of the Lord came on Gideon” and they defeated the vast enemy with just 300 hundred men. We are being sent in the same power. We cannot accomplish God’s plan in our own power. We will see amazing results just like Gideon did when we obey the word of the Lord. God says to us; Am I not sending you? The only thing we need to do is be obedient to His word and he will provide all we need. In the end we will say with 17 “The seventy-two who returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” We will rejoice that our names are written in heaven.”
